Keonjhar Town Police have successfully rescued a kidnapped youth within hours of the incident and arrested two accused persons.

Kidnapping for Ransom Foiled – Two Accused Arrested, Victim Safely Rescued
Keonjhar Town Police have successfully rescued a kidnapped youth within hours of the incident and arrested two accused persons involved in a kidnapping-for-ransom conspiracy.
The case was registered on the written report of Smt. Jayanti Mahanta of Naranpur under Keonjhar Town PS Case No. 942 dated 09.12.2025, initially U/s 140(2)/142 BNS, later added with Section 3(5) BNS. The complainant had reported that her son Banti @ Asish Kumar Mahanta (21) was forcibly abducted by two persons and taken away in a blue Alto car for ransom.
Swift Action and Rescue:
Immediately after receiving the report, Keonjhar Town Police launched an intensive search. CCTV footage was collected, mobile phone location of the victim was analysed, and the movement of the suspected vehicle was tracked. Acting on the technical leads, police traced the hideout of the accused persons and conducted a prompt raid, successfully rescuing the victim from their custody.
Accused Arrested:
Kashyap Kumar Sahoo (42), S/o Trilochan Sahoo, Naranpur Tota Sahi
Jaga @ Jagat Naik (40), S/o Lt. Gulia Naik, Naranpur Hata Chhaka
Both accused were apprehended, and the Blue Alto Car (Regn. No. OR02AQ-9804) used in the kidnapping was seized. The mobile phone of the victim was also recovered from the possession of the accused.
Criminal Antecedents:
Accused Kashyap Kumar Sahoo has multiple past involvements in serious criminal cases, including offences U/s 307, 387, 395 IPC and Arms Act.
Accused Jagat Naik also has previous involvement in theft-related offences.
