1st Arunachal Pradesh International Chess Festival 2025,

Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh:
Ziro Valley is set to host the 1st Arunachal Pradesh International Chess Festival 2025, a landmark event poised to elevate the state’s presence in the global chess arena. Scheduled from 28th November to 8th December 2025, the prestigious tournament will take place at the Padi Yubbe Indoor Stadium, Hapoli, Ziro, in Lower Subansiri district.

The festival is being organised by the All Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association (APPCA) in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri District Chess Association (LSDCA) and the Olley Alo Foundation, Ziro. The event receives strong support from the Department of Sports and the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. It is officially affiliated with the Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) and the All India Chess Federation (AICF), and is recognised by the World Chess Federation (FIDE), adding international credibility and prestige.

This inaugural international chess festival marks a historic moment for the state, highlighting Ziro’s growing reputation as a venue for major sporting events. The organisers, including APPCA President Er. Niapung Konia, APPCA Hon. Secretary Shri Tamchi Kache, and Organising Chairman Tadam Haging Cherom, aim to promote chess as a competitive sport while fostering youth engagement and tourism in the region.

With participants expected from across India and abroad, the event is anticipated to significantly boost local enthusiasm for chess and showcase the cultural beauty of the “Land of Rising Sun” to the world.
