Subject: Press Note on Industrialisation and Youth Migration – Ganjam & South Odisha

Sir/Madam,

Kindly consider the following brief press note for circulation through AIMA Media channels:

Youth from Ganjam district and South Odisha are migrating in large numbers to other states and countries due to the absence of major industries and local job opportunities. Retired Central Government officers, staff associations and senior citizens’ groups from the Brahmapur region have jointly submitted several representations to State and Central Governments, seeking heavy industries and a skill‑based industrial cluster for this region, and have received encouraging responses from the Centre. However, concrete action at the state level is still awaited, while unemployment and migration continue to rise.

The appeal is for establishment of heavy industries and allied MSMEs in sectors such as electronics, defence‑support manufacturing and emerging semiconductor/AI‑linked industries in Ganjam and South Odisha, supported by upgraded ITIs, polytechnics and colleges aligned to modern skills. This would directly support national missions like Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Skill India, and reduce distress migration from Odisha.

I submit this note as a native of Sikiri village in Ganjam, now residing in Bengaluru, Karnataka, after serving in Group‑A posts as Senior Scientific Officer Grade‑II in DGAQA (UP) and Scientist Grade‑IV at NAL, Bengaluru, and presently working as Editor, AIMA Media Channel, Karnataka State Region. I request AIMA Media to highlight this issue in the public interest and help amplify the voice of youth and senior citizens from Ganjam and South Odisha.

Yours faithfully,
Dr. Kanhu Charan Padhy
Bengaluru, Karnataka (native of Sikiri, Ganjam, Odisha)
