On 21 Nov 2025, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), joined by internally displaced persons (IDPs), has staged a mass protest.

On 21 November 2025, the group COCOMI (Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity) and many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) held a major protest against the Sangai Festival, which is Manipur’s biggest tourism event.

The protesters said that it was not the right time to celebrate, because thousands of people are still displaced and living in relief camps due to the ongoing conflict in the state.
They accused the government of focusing on tourism and entertainment instead of restoring peace and helping the displaced families return home.

The situation became tense when some protesters tried to move toward the festival venue at Hatta Kangjeibung. Security forces used tear gas and mock bombs to control the crowd.

COCOMI stated that normalcy, peace, and rehabilitation of IDPs should come first before organizing such a festival.
