AMU Centre for Adult Education Hosts Exhibition-cum-Sale of Homemade Products

ALIGARH, November 15: The Centre for Adult Education and Continuing Extension, Aligarh Muslim University, organized an exhibition-cum-sale featuring a wide range of household products crafted by adult learners associated with the Centre. The event was inaugurated by former AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez.

After inaugurating the exhibition, Prof. Gulrez visited the stalls and commended the participants for their craftsmanship and dedication. He stated that such initiatives not only highlight the talent of learners but also strengthen their resolve toward self-reliance. Encouraging participants to utilize their skills for self-employment, he emphasized that entrepreneurship at the grassroots level contributes significantly to community development and nation-building. He expressed confidence that the exhibition would enhance the morale of adult learners and motivate them to explore new avenues in skill-based vocational activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shameem Akhtar, Director of the Centre, said that the exhibition was designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills and provide practical exposure to learners. He noted that such activities increase the effectiveness of vocational training programmes and instil confidence among participants.

He further said that the exhibition aimed to provide learners with a platform to display and market products prepared during various training programmes, while promoting hands-on experience in product development, presentation, and sales.

The stalls drew considerable attention from visitors, who appreciated the variety and quality of items on display. These included bed sheets, pillow covers, cushion covers, ladies’ suits, petticoats, trousers, handmade bags and other stitched items. Food products such as mixed fruit jam, lemon pickle, mixed pickle, lemon squash and assorted vegetable pickles were also showcased, earning praise for their appealing presentation and packaging.
