Jeypore and Bhubaneswar Shine on Opening Day of State-Level Cricket Tournament in Koraput

Koraput | Nov 2, 2025 - The much-awaited state-level cricket tournament organised by the Koraput Bar Association kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Koraput Stadium Ground on Sunday morning. The event was formally inaugurated by District Judge Pradeep Kumar Mahant, who encouraged participants to display true sportsmanship and unity through the game.

Also gracing the inaugural ceremony were Additional District Judge Dr. Deepak Ranjan Sahu, SDJM Sushree Sangeeta Das, and Executive Magistrate Gayadhar Panigrahi, who lauded the Bar Association’s effort in promoting inter-district camaraderie among legal professionals.

The opening match between Gajapati Bar Association and Jeypore Bar Association witnessed an exciting contest. Gajapati won the toss and opted to field first, but Jeypore displayed a solid batting performance and secured victory in the first match of the tournament. In the second match of the day, Bhubaneswar Bar Association emerged triumphant, showcasing remarkable teamwork and skill.

The tournament, which will continue till November 9, has drawn participation from several district bar associations across Odisha. The event aims to foster goodwill, fitness, and friendly relations among members of the legal fraternity while providing a platform for showcasing sporting talent.

With a strong start and spirited performances on the opening day, the tournament promises an exciting week of cricketing action in Koraput.
