Three Youths Critically Injured in Car-Truck Collision Near Ranikana Square, Koraput

Semiliguda | Nov 2, 2025 - In a tragic road mishap, three youths were critically injured after a head-on collision between a car and a truck at Ranikana Square on National Highway 26 under the Semiliguda police limits in Koraput district on Sunday evening. The accident occurred around 5 PM, causing traffic disruption for several minutes on the busy route.

The injured have been identified as Uttam Jena, Satendra Singh, and Gautam Rao, all residents of Raipur in Chhattisgarh. According to police sources, the three were travelling in a CG 17 KT 7538 car and were returning after visiting the scenic Deomali hills, a popular tourist destination in the region.

As per eyewitness accounts, the car reportedly collided head-on with a truck bearing registration number OD 10 P 6229, leading to severe damage to the vehicle and serious injuries to the occupants.

Soon after the incident, a team from Semiliguda Police Station, led by SI Prafulla Kumar Patro, reached the spot and rescued the victims. The injured were initially shifted to NAC Hospital, Semiliguda for immediate medical aid and later referred to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput, for advanced treatment.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest over speeding may have been a contributing factor.
