MLA Raghuram Machha Flags Off ₹87 Lakh Drainage Project, Pledges Cleaner and Healthier Koraput

Koraput, October 20, 2025 - In a significant step towards strengthening urban infrastructure, Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha today laid the foundation stone for a new drainage construction project worth ₹87 lakh in Ward No. 13 of Koraput Municipality, located in the Bagpada area.

The project, initiated under the Koraput Municipality’s development plan, aims to improve sanitation, prevent waterlogging, and enhance the overall living conditions of local residents. The foundation ceremony, held around 1 PM, witnessed the participation of local leaders, community members, and municipal representatives.

Speaking at the event, MLA Raghuram Machha highlighted the government’s continuous efforts to boost civic infrastructure across Koraput should reach every corner of Koraput. This drainage project is a step forward in ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our people. The state government is committed to improving roads, drainage, and public facilities for a better quality of life,” said Machha.

He further emphasized that proper drainage and waste management are essential to sustainable urban growth and assured that more such projects will soon be launched across other wards.

Koraput Municipality Chairman Lalat Ranjan Sethi, who also attended the ceremony along with all councillors, expressed his gratitude to the MLA and reiterated the municipality’s commitment to local development, This project reflects our joint vision for a cleaner and better-planned Koraput. The cooperation between the public, municipality, and the administration is the key to achieving long-term progress,” said Sethi.

The Chairman also mentioned that Ward No. 13, being one of the older parts of Koraput town, had long faced drainage-related issues, and the new system will significantly ease the problems faced by residents during the monsoon season.
The initiative marks another milestone in Koraput’s ongoing journey towards modernization, focusing on better sanitation, infrastructure, and quality urban living. Residents of Bagpada and nearby areas expressed appreciation for the project, calling it a much-needed development for the locality.
