
Koraput Mourns the Loss of Its Pride — Colonel Shiv Prasad Biswal Passes Away
Semiliguda, Oct 18, 2025 - In a moment of deep sorrow, Colonel Shiv Prasad Biswal, the first Principal of Semiliguda College and a proud son of Koraput district, passed away in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after a prolonged illness. His untimely demise has left the people of Semiliguda, Dumuriput, and nearby areas mourning the loss of a true hero.
Born and brought up in Nighamanguda near Dumuriput, Colonel Biswal completed his early education locally before pursuing higher studies outside the district. He began his career as the founding principal of Semiliguda College, laying a strong educational foundation for generations to come.
Driven by a deep sense of duty and patriotism, he later joined the Indian Army through the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination. Over the years, he served the nation with honor and courage, eventually retiring with the prestigious rank of Colonel.
After retirement, Colonel Biswal continued his journey of service by engaging in social and educational work in Bhubaneswar, extending financial and moral support to many poor and deserving students.
He was the middle son of Late Jogendra Nath Biswal, a retired DSP and police officer. His passing marks the end of a remarkable life dedicated to education, discipline, and humanity.
The people of Koraput and former students of Semiliguda College paid heartfelt Sraddhanjali, remembering him as a teacher, soldier, and guiding light whose legacy will forever remain in their hearts.
