Awareness Campaign on “No to Single Use Plastic” under Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 & Special Campaign- 5.0

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada (October 1–15, 2025) and Special Campaign 5.0, Malda Division of Eastern Railway organised an extensive campaign across the division to promote awareness about the ban on single-use plastic and to encourage eco-friendly practices among passengers, vendors, and staff.

Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Malda, Shri Manish Kumar Gupta, and the supervision of Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (EnHM), Shri Pradeep Das, the Environment & Housekeeping Management (EnHM) Department inspected the maintenance and functioning of Plastic Bottle Crushing Machines (PBCMs) installed at Malda Town, Jamalpur, and Bhagalpur stations.

As part of the initiative, the EnHM Department also organized awareness programmes at Jamalpur Bhagalpur,Malda Town & other major stations, where pamphlets and cloth bags were distributed among passengers to discourage the use of single-use plastic and promote sustainable alternatives.

Additionally, a special enforcement drive was carried out by the EnHM Department, imposing penalties on vendor stalls violating the ban on single-use plastic at railway stations across Malda Division.

This initiative reflects Malda Division’s continued commitment towards environmental protection, sustainable practices, and ensuring a cleaner and greener railway ecosystem in line with the objectives of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 and Special Campaign 5.0.
