Kolkata set for grandest Durga Puja Carnival 113 award winning pujas to parade down Red Road as city gears up for cultural extravaganza

"Although Durga Puja festivities have come to a close, the cultural celebrations in Kolkata are far from over. The city is gearing up for a grand continuation of the festive spirit with the much-awaited Durga Puja Carnival, which will see 113 award-winning puja committees parading through Red Road — the largest participation since the carnival’s inception in 2016."

"Organised by the West Bengal government, this year’s event promises to be the biggest cultural spectacle yet, featuring dazzling song and dance performances, vibrant tableaux from the best puja pandals, and a strong official presence. The carnival had been paused during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, and saw 89 pujas participate last year. Just like the city’s pandals, the carnival’s floats will also reflect contemporary social themes, ensuring that the festive artistry continues to make powerful
cultural statements
"Spectators are advised to reach the venue on foot via AJC Bose Road, Chowringhee Road, Outram Road, Mayo Road, or R R Avenue. Those using public transport should alight at Esplanade or Park Street and proceed to the designated viewing enclosures. Metro, tram, and bus services will be used to facilitate crowd movement."
"To manage the large turnout, parking will be prohibited on several key stretches — including Government Place West (between R R Avenue and Esplanade Row West) and portions of Chowringhee Road — from noon on October 5 until the dispersal of the crowd. This year’s carnival is set to be a majestic celebration of Bengal’s art, devotion, and creativity, marking a fitting finale to Durga Puja 2025."
