PWF AWARD RS 160,000/- AS MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO 5 JOURNALIST, INVITES NEWS APPLICATIONS

Imphal,Oct.1:
The Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF) invites applications for the Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) scheme's first phase for 2025-26, covering treatment expenditures incurred between April 1, 2025, and September 30, 2025.

This announcement follows the recent disbursement of Rs 1,60,000 in assistance to five beneficiaries under the MFA scheme's second phase for 2024-25, covering treatment costs between October 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The distribution ceremony was held at the Manipur Press Club, attended by PWF's Chairperson N. Tombiral, Managing Trustee Asem Bhakta, PWF Secretary Borun Thokchom, and other members.

The beneficiaries included Soram Johnson Singh (Paogel Daily), who received ₹45,000 for his father's treatment of acute calculus cholecystitis and recurrent urinary bladder growth, Ngangbam Sanjoy Singh (ISTV), who received ₹40,000 for his son's Spindle cell lesion treatment, Leimapokpam Kabichandra Singh (Impact TV), who received ₹36,000 for his open comminuted fracture treatment, Sorokhaibam Somerendre Singh (Impact TV), who received ₹27,000 for his father's brain stroke treatment and Ngashepam Jitenkumar (Poknapham), who received ₹12,000 for his spouse's haemorrhoids treatment.

The MFA scheme, launched in 2017 by the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), provides financial assistance to AMWJU's present and retired members and their immediate family members. The scheme is funded from the interest earned on PWF's corpus fund of ₹80 lakhs, maintained as a fixed deposit with the State Bank of India.
