District-Level Meeting on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Held in Koraput

Koraput Town, Sep 13 – A district-level coordination and consultation meeting on the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme was convened today at the Sadbhavana Hall in Koraput. The programme began at 3 PM friday evening under the chairmanship of Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan.

Officials from various line departments, including education, health, and women & child development, participated in the deliberations. The meeting aimed to review ongoing activities under the BBBP initiative and to chalk out strategies for wider outreach and effective implementation at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Mahajan highlighted the significance of the scheme in addressing gender imbalance and promoting education for the girl child. “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is not just a government programme but a social movement. Every stakeholder—from government officials to teachers, parents, and community groups—must work collectively to ensure that every girl is educated, empowered, and treated with dignity,” he said.

He further stressed the need for innovative awareness drives in schools and villages, involving self-help groups and youth volunteers. “Our goal is to make sure that schemes meant for girls and women reach every deserving beneficiary in Koraput. Awareness is the key to changing mindsets,” the Collector added.

The meeting concluded with officials preparing a roadmap for upcoming awareness campaigns, with a focus on ensuring maximum participation from local communities. The initiative is expected to strengthen efforts towards gender equality and improve educational opportunities for girls in the district.
