From Bhopal to the United Nations: Shiree Khan’s Global Recognition in Disaster Preparedness. Bhopal, 10 September 2025:

Shiree Khan, an educationist and social activist from Bhopal, has been selected to join the Women’s Leadership in Tsunami-based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Training Programme, organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Hiroshima, Japan.

Chosen from among exceptional candidates across the globe, Ms. Khan will participate in comprehensive training that includes online learning modules, expert-led webinars, group exercises, and practical presentations. The programme is part of the global initiative to mark World Tsunami Awareness Day 2025.

“This recognition is not only a personal milestone but also an opportunity to contribute to building inclusive and resilient communities,” said Ms. Khan. “Through this programme, I willbe able to connect with international experts, policymakers, and professionals, opening doors for future collaborations, research, and global projects.”

The UNITAR initiative aims to empower women leaders with the skills and knowledge to design effective disaster preparedness and risk reduction strategies. Top performers from the programme will also join an intensive Phase 2 online workshop for advanced training.

With this achievement, Shiree Khan continues her commitment to social impact, women’s empowerment, and community resilience in India.
