The skies over Odisha turned crimson as a rare total lunar eclipse, popularly known as the Blood Moon, graced the heavens on Sunday night. From coastal Puri to the heart of Bhubaneswar, thousands of skywatchers stepped out to witness the celestial spectacle that began at 9:57 PM IST and reached its peak at 11:41 PM IST, bathing the moon in a deep red hue.

Spiritual Significance at Puri Srimandir
In Puri, the Jagannath Temple observed a complete ritual rescheduling in accordance with traditional beliefs. The temple doors were closed from 12:57 PM and reopened at 2:00 AM post-eclipse, followed by Mangala Alati and purification rites. Devotees refrained from cooking and eating during the Sutak period, honoring age-old customs that align celestial events with spiritual discipline.
