Demand Letter Submitted to Sarpanch Highlighting Problems of Vejaput Village

Koraput | Sept 3, 2025 – Villagers of Vejaput under Charangul Panchayat in Semiliguda block have formally submitted a demand letter highlighting several civic issues to the Similiguda Block Development Officer (BDO) through the Charangul Sarpanch. The submission took place in the presence of the Panchayat Executive Officer and several local representatives.
The initiative was led by Babuli Swain on behalf of the villagers, with the active participation of Upendra Panigrahi, Purandar Mallick, Narayan Padhi, Parvathi Kumar Samal, Ajay Kumar Jena, Rajendra Prasad Behera and Sudarshan Sahabi. Together, they discussed the challenges faced by the community and officially placed their demands before the authorities.
The memorandum emphasized critical issues, including poor sanitation and cleanliness, inadequate drinking water supply under the Vasudha Yojana, the need for a proper sewerage system, and regular operation of garbage collection vehicles by the Panchayat. A major concern raised was the location of the government high school, which currently operates from the middle of the village. Villagers urged its relocation to a more suitable site.
Addressing the matter, the semiliguda BDO said, “We are aware of the problems raised by Vejaput villagers. Steps will be taken in close coordination with Panchayat authorities. While some issues may require time due to financial limitations, priority will be given to drinking water supply and sanitation.”
The Sarpanch and Panchayat Executive Officer also assured villagers of all possible support and action within their administrative capacity.
