Malda Railway Division & English Bazar Municipality Join Hands for Cleanliness & Awareness Drive

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Abhiyan -2025, a special cleanliness and awareness drive was organised today at the approaches of Malda Town Railway Station near Rathbari Rail Gate under the overall guidance of Shri Manish Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Malda,and led by Shri Pradeep Das, Sr. DME (EnHM),Malda.

The initiative, conducted in joint collaboration with English Bazar Municipality, witnessed the presence of Sri Krishnendu Narayan Choudhary, Chairman, English Bazar Municipality, Malda, West Bengal, and Sri Tapas Karmakar, Chief Sanitary Inspector, English Bazar Municipality. Railway officials, employees, and housekeeping staff of Malda Railway Division also actively participated in the drive.

In addition to intensive cleaning efforts, a public awareness campaign was carried out among local residents and fruit sellers at Rathbari market, during which pamphlets were distributed jointly by Railway and Municipality representatives. Teams also went door-to-door near the railway tracks and Rathbari locality, sensitising residents towards cleanliness and discouraging littering in railway premises. The campaign urged people to maintain cleanliness, refrain from littering near railway tracks, and extend support to “Swachh Rail – Swachh Bharat.”

Malda Division continues to work in close coordination with civic authorities to promote sustainable cleanliness and community participation in hygiene initiatives.
