Malda Railway Division Conducts Intensive Cleanliness Drive under Swachhata Abhiyan 2025


In line with the nationwide observance of Swachhata Abhiyan 2025, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Malda, Shri Manish Kumar Gupta, Malda Division of Eastern Railway has been undertaking regular cleanliness activities to ensure hygienic and comfortable travel for passengers.

Today, the Environment and Housekeeping Management (ENHM) Department, under the supervision of Shri Pradip Das, Sr.DME (ENHM), carried out a special cleanliness drive at Malda Town station under the Clean Train Station (CTS) Scheme. The initiative focused on en-route cleaning of trains and coaches, with special attention to sanitation and passenger comfort.

Under the Clean Train Station scheme, dedicated cleaning teams deployed at Malda Town station used specialized tools and mechanized equipment to clean and disinfect trains during their scheduled stoppages. This real-time cleaning process ensures improved hygiene standards and enhances the overall travel experience for passengers.

The cleanliness activity included:
• En-route Cleaning: Cleaning of trains with stoppages of 10 minutes or more, ensuring immediate attention to passenger needs.
• Mechanized Cleaning: Use of modern tools and equipment for efficient and thorough cleaning.
• Specific Tasks: Drying and sanitizing toilet floors, wiping washbasins, mirrors, and door fittings, disinfection of toilets, cleaning of vestibules, collection and disposal of garbage, and watering of all coaches.
• Focus on Toilets: Special emphasis was placed on toilet cleaning and disinfection to significantly improve passenger satisfaction.


The initiative taken by Malda Division under the CTS scheme not only strengthens the objectives of Swachhata Abhiyan 2025 but also contributes to ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and more passenger-friendly rail journey.
