Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) Programme Held at Polytechnic, Takyelpat
Manipur State Pharmacy Council (MSPC) successfully organised a 1-Day Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) Programme at the auditorium of Government Polytechnic, Takyelpat today.
Delivering the introductory address, MSPC president RK Basumani Singh said that the CPE programme was conducted as the guidelines of Pharmacy Council of India to sensitize the pharmacists about the newly amended Pharmacy Practice Regulation Act, 2015.
"Earlier, people used to rent/ borrow a pharmacist's registration certificate to open their pharmacy. However, the newly amended Act prohibits this practice as it is considered professional misconduct, which is subject to the permanent cancellation of the registration certificate", he added.
Highlighting the need for organising CPE programmes, he said that the field of pharmacy is constantly evolving with new medications, technologies, and healthcare policies, requiring pharmacists to update their knowledge and skills to maintain licensure and provide high-quality patient care.
He continued that CPE helps pharmacists stay competent and knowledgeable about the latest developments in the field, which directly impacts patient safety and the quality of care. Further RK Basumani shared that preparations are underway to organise such programmes every three months.
Dr Asem Veeves Singh, Vice Principal, In-charge, Saraswati Management & Para-Medical Science, Pangei and Dr Huidrom Birkumar Singh, Chief Scientist, CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology, Branch Laboratory, Lamphelpat also attended the programme as resource persons.
