Govt Fails Auto Drivers | Mir Qurram Ali Slams Neglect of Drivers Rights

Hyderabad, Basheerbagh – August 17, 2025:
In a fiery press meet at Basheerbagh Press Club, prominent advocate and social activist *Mir Qurram Ali* came down heavily on the Telangana government for turning a blind eye to the rights of auto drivers. He condemned the administration for failing to enforce the Motor Vehicles Act and allowing autos with district registrations to operate in Hyderabad city limits without valid permits.

> “This is not just negligence—this is a systematic denial of rights to the working class. Auto drivers are the backbone of our public transport, and the government must be held accountable,” said Qurram Ali, addressing a packed gathering.

Demanding justice for drivers, he urged the state to immediately establish a *Driver Welfare Committee*—as seen in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra—to protect and uplift the lives of thousands of hardworking auto drivers across Telangana.

*ILWF Chairman Mir Inayat Ali Bakhri* also shared the stage and revealed that the DB App*, a digital initiative focused on driver welfare, will be launched soon to streamline support services and benefits.

The meeting drew hundreds of auto drivers, underlining the urgency and gravity of their growing struggles. With tensions rising among the driving community, Qurram Ali’s bold stance has sparked fresh hope—and fresh debate.
