Centre for Sight Siliguri Welcomes Renowned Vitreoretinal Surgeon Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh and Launches Retina Surgical Services

This significant milestone is further marked by the joining of one of the region’s most respected retina specialists, Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh, as Senior Vitreoretinal Consultant.
Now joining this legacy of excellence is Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh, a distinguished retina surgeon with over 20 years of experience. An alumnus of AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Singh completed his MD in Ophthalmology and pursued a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases from Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati. He is also a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO, UK) and FAICO in Vitreoretinal Diseases.

The newly inaugurated retina unit at Centre for Sight Siliguri is equipped with world-class infrastructure and next-generation technologies such as VR-assisted retinal surgery, silicone oil removal (SOR), scleral fixated IOL implantation (SFIOL), along with advanced diagnostics like Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), B-scan, and fundus imaging. The centre is equipped to diagnose and treat a broad range of retinal disorders including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Known for his precision and commitment to patient outcomes, Dr. Singh brings with him vast experience in managing complex retinal and uveal conditions, as well as neuro-ophthalmology. He has successfully performed thousands of sutureless retinal surgeries, scleral fixated IOLs, laser procedures (ROP, PRP, Nd:YAG), intravitreal injections, and ocular trauma management. He is also proficient in diagnostic imaging including ocular and orbital ultrasonography. In addition to his clinical acumen, Dr. Singh has contributed extensively to academic research and education as an editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, and has authored numerous national and international publications. His professional affiliations include AIOS, VRSI, DOS, ACOIN, IMA, and others.
Previously associated with leading eye institutions like Vasan Eye Care and North Bengal Eye Institute—where he served as Director—Dr. Singh now joins Centre for Sight to lead and elevate retina care in Siliguri and surrounding areas.
