Cremation Grounds Submerged Due to Floods in Prayagraj: Trouble Rises in Urban and Rural Areas, Last Rites Being Performed on Roads

In Prayagraj, the Ganga and Yamuna rivers are in spate. Since Wednesday morning, water has risen over the ghats. More than 15 localities near the rivers, with a population of around 500,000, have been surrounded by floodwaters. Water has also submerged the cremation ground at Daraganj. Now, the final rites of the deceased are being performed on the mini road leading from Daraganj to the Sangam. On Wednesday alone, the cremation of around 13 bodies took place on the road.
