*Retirement in 8 days.. Meanwhile, ACB catches commission commissioner*

Nallimarla Nagar Panchayat Commissioner Tarakanath who fixed the work rate

Councilors pass resolution on the commissioner's behavior, but higher officials ignore it

ACB officials caught taking a bribe of Rs. 15,000 from a house builder

An interesting incident took place in Nellimarla, Vizianagaram district. With 8 days left to retire, the Nagar Panchayat Commissioner was caught taking a bribe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials. Tarakanath, who took charge as the commissioner of Nellimarla Nagar Panchayat on April 17 this year after being promoted, will retire on the 23rd of this month.

However, it seems that since the day he took charge as the commissioner, he has made a rule that he will work only if he is given a bribe. A rate was fixed for the work. He would work only if he was given some form of bribe, such as Rs. 20,000 for house construction permits, Rs. 5,000 for tax depreciation, and Rs. 3,000 for staff leave. In the past three months, many allegations have been made against the commissioner's behavior.

In protest against his performance, 16 councilors even passed a resolution in the council meeting to remove him from duty. The district-level officials did not take any action on this. The commissioner did not change his approach. While taking a bribe of Rs. 15,000 from a person for a house construction plan permit, the ACB officials caught him red-handed yesterday. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, said the ACB DSP.
