Maharashtra's first pumped storage hydropower project through cooperative sector launched
MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the state has launched the first ever pumped storage hydropower project through the cooperative sector with an investment of Rs 1,008 crore and a projected generation capacity of 240 MW.He was speaking after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Water Resources Department and TatyAsaheb Kore Warana Sahakari Navashakti Nirmiti Sanstha Ltd at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai. Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, MLA Vinay Kore and senior officials were also present.Calling the project a "timely and necessary initiative", Fadnavis said the demand for renewable energy would rise significantly in the coming years.
