Tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on His Death Anniversary

On the solemn occasion of the death anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee (6 July 1901 – 23 June 1953), we pay our heartfelt tribute to a great patriot, scholar, and visionary leader.

Dr. Mookerjee was the youngest Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University, a distinguished freedom fighter, and later served as the Union Minister for Industry and Commerce in independent India. A firm believer in national integrity, he resigned from the Cabinet opposing the Nehru-Liaquat Pact and founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951 — the ideological predecessor of today’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He strongly opposed Article 370 and the dual-symbol policy in Jammu & Kashmir, entering the state without permit as a mark of protest. He was arrested and died under mysterious circumstances in custody on 23 June 1953.

His sacrifice for the unity and integrity of India continues to inspire generations.

Humble Tributes to a True Son of Bharat Mata.
