Heavy rainfall

Jaipatna, ): The unexpected rains in the Kalahandi region have brought troubles to the farmers. Continuous rains since yesterday have severely affected many parts of Jaipatna block. Especially in Jaipatna town and nearby villages like Kusumkhunti, Bishwanathpur, Belkhandi, and Kalampur, moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded. As a result, the paddy stored in open fields and drying areas has been soaked in water.

Farmers are now in a state of panic and distress due to the damage to their harvested crops. Apart from paddy, crops like pulses, vegetables, and groundnuts have also been damaged. Farmers who had stored their harvested crops at home and in the fields are now struggling to protect them from getting spoiled.

Local people have said that such continuous and untimely rainfall has made it difficult to carry out normal farming activities. According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of more rain in the coming days. Farmers are fearing further losses if this continues. Agricultural experts suggest that necessary steps be taken immediately to reduce crop loss and protect the remaining yield.

In view of the situation, the local administration has been requested to survey the affected areas and provide appropriate assistance and compensation to the affected farmers.
