Basic Infrastructure Collapsing in Jasola Vihar: Residents Raise Alarm Over Civic Negligence"

East Delhi, Jasola Vihar | 7 June 2025
The residents of Jasola Vihar, a prominent locality in East Delhi, have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of civic infrastructure in the area. From damaged roads and encroached footpaths to choked drains and irregular garbage collection, the locality is witnessing a steady decline in public services – a situation being blamed on the persistent negligence of municipal authorities and concerned government agencies.

Despite being a well-populated and strategically located area, basic civic needs such as road repair, drain cleaning, and sanitation are being ignored. Local resident welfare associations (RWAs) have made multiple complaints, yet no concrete action has been taken so far.

“We are not asking for anything extraordinary — just clean roads, functional drains, and basic hygiene. Is that too much to expect in the national capital?” said a frustrated resident during a recent community meeting.

With the monsoon season approaching, the situation is expected to worsen due to poor drainage and pothole-ridden roads, increasing the risk of accidents and waterborne diseases.

The residents have urged the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and local MLA to visit the ground reality and take swift action. A united appeal has been made to prioritize Jasola Vihar in the civic maintenance schedule before the conditions spiral out of control.

If no action is taken soon, the RWAs hinted at the possibility of organizing peaceful protests and media campaigns to demand accountability.
