Indian Army Conducts Military - Civil Interactive Capsule to Strengthen Cooperation and Coordination

GURDASPUR, June 01 ( Jatinder Bains) In a significant step towards fostering synergy between the armed forces and local administration, the Indian Army’s Dera Baba Nanak Brigade under Brig Vikramjit Singh Kochhar conducted a Military - Civil Interactive Capsule on May 30, 2025, at Tibri Military Station followed by the visit of all key stakeholders of civil administration to the forward Post. The event brought together key stakeholders including the Sh Dalwinderjit Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, Sh Aditya, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur, forest officials and various Sarpanches of bordering villages along Western borders.
The programme started with an introductory and welcome address, setting the tone for a series of informative and strategic discussions as per Cheif of Army Staff directives. A comprehensive overview and valour displayed by Indian Army in 1965 and 1971 wars—particularly Operation Akal—was presented in the context of the Dera Baba Nanak Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), highlighting the region’s historical, communal and strategic significance. All attendees engaged in an informal tea session, promoting open discussion cum dialogue and fostering mutual understanding on various Military - civil cooperation. An insightful presentation on Operation Sindoor was also delivered, shedding light on the operational challenges faced by the Indian Army and the decisive actions taken during the mission. Various assistance provided by civil administration to Indian Army to strengthen its defence along IB. Critical civil issues such as the growing drug menace in the Gurdaspur region, declining recruitment levels of local and local administrative concerns were also addressed in great detail. Further, all Attendees discussed various mitigation strategies in detail, reaffirming a united stand between Indian Army and Civil administration to counter all challenges in the future. In addition, Emphasis was laid on prompt action, effective emergency response and robust inter-departmental coordination for any future contingencies. Security-related matters including safeguarding sensitive information, protection of military personnel and countering adversarial activities were taken up with the local administration. The DC and SSP of Gurdaspur alongwith border villages representatives assured the Indian Army of their full support and cooperation in all critical areas in times to come.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Brig Vikramjit Singh Kochhar, Station commander, Tibri Military Station who reiterated the importance of continued collaboration between the Indian Army and civil administration and present a joint stand highlighting whole of nation approach to all future adversary. This interaction marked a milestone in reinforcing military - civil ties in the region, with all participants aligned towards a secure, resilient, and cooperative future for the secured border areas of Gurdaspur District.
