BMOH approval required to prevent fraud in Birth and Death certificates
There were allegations of intrusion. There were also allegations of issuing fake birth or death certificates to throw dust in the eyes of the health department. But despite the allegations, there was no way to solve the problem. Finally, the health department is trying to get rid of this problem by following the two-step verification system. It has been decided that from now on, no birth or death certificate will be registered without the approval of the block health officer.
Various complaints have been received from different times across Malda district regarding the issuance of birth or death certificates. Recently, after the unnatural death of a woman in Chanchal, a nursing home authority was accused of handing over the body to the family without informing the police. On receiving the news, the police made a big fuss and recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. There are allegations of not only issuing death certificates, but also false registrations in the district by buying children with money and claiming that they were born at home. In this way, the concerned department has brought new standard operating procedures on the birth and death information portal to stop fake registrations. As per the guidelines, the new Sub-Rrgister Office of Panchayet(SOP) has given the responsibility of sub-registrar to the Gram Panchayat Pradhan in the first stage of the two-step verification. In all cases, after the Panchayat Pradhan, the Block Medical Officer of Health (BMOH) will verify everything and allow registration.
