
Summer Chess Coaching Camp begins with enthusiasm in Jamshedpur
The Summer Chess Coaching Camp–2025, organized by Chandan Chess Academy (Sonari), was inaugurated today at Tumbling Tortilos Restaurant, Bistupur. The five-day camp, which will continue till May 23, aims to provide young chess enthusiasts with intensive training and exposure to various aspects of the game.
The opening ceremony was graced by Vibhuti Dhand Adesara, Head of Sports – Events and Training Centres, Tata Steel who inaugurated the event. She was joined by Guest of Honour Dr. Hassan Imam, International Handball Coach and Manager, Sports at Tata Steel.
In her address, Adesara encouraged the children to excel not just in academics but also in all chess formats, motivating them to work towards achieving high ratings.
Dr. Imam emphasized the importance of staying energetic and maintaining a positive attitude. He also urged girls to take active participation in sports, including chess.
A total of 20 children have enrolled in this year’s camp, which is being conducted in two parts—offline and online. Along with basic chess training, participants will gain knowledge of chess openings, the middle game, end game strategies, combinations, and tournament formats.
The curriculum also includes sessions on using chess apps and software, as well as a chess quiz to foster competitive spirit.
Despite the scorching summer heat, the enthusiasm among children remained high. They will be mentored by International Arbiter and Head Chess Coach of Chandan Chess Academy, Chandan Kumar Prasad. The camp opened with a presentation by participants, including young talent Souryadipta Sarkar.
All participants will receive certificates on the final day of the camp as a token of appreciation and encouragement.
