Mir Qurram Ali Demands Metro Fare Rollback | BRSV GHMC Fights for Student Welfare

Hyderabad, May 18: BRSVGHMC Coordinator and Advocates Mir Qurram Ali has issued a strong appeal to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, demanding an immediate rollback of the recent hike in Hyderabad Metro Rail ticket prices. In a public statement, Qurram Ali expressed serious concern over the financial burden being placed on students and young commuters who rely heavily on the metro for daily travel.

"The metro fare hike is unjust and directly affects students and youth, who are already struggling under immense financial pressure," Qurram Ali said. "The government boasts about free education and subsidised public transport, but in reality, students are not receiving scholarships, are unable to access the promised Rs. 5 lakh student loans, and face skyrocketing tuition fees in private colleges."

He further criticized the state's failure to regulate private educational institutions, alleging that many are charging exorbitant fees and illegally withholding students' certificates. "Where is the education department in all this? Why is the Chief Minister not addressing these serious violations? Why does he only consult his education minister, ignoring voices like mine that represent real student issues?"

Qurram Ali called on the government to take immediate corrective action. He urged the Congress administration to uphold its pre-election promises and ensure that education remains accessible and affordable to all.

Meanwhile, several BRS MLAs from Hyderabad have also written an open letter to CM Revanth Reddy, demanding a rollback of the metro fare hike, stating it imposes an "unbearable burden" on the city's residents.

The public outcry over metro pricing and education costs is rapidly gaining momentum, with students and parents alike calling for accountability and swift reforms.
