Dr. Saba Khatoon Conferred with Inspiring Teacher of English Award by Eklavya Literary Research Foundation

Dr. Saba Khatoon, Assistant Professor, Department of Education and Training at Maulana Azad National Urdu University have been awarded the prestigious Inspiring Teacher of English Award by the Eklavya Literary Research Foundation, Andhra Pradesh. The award was presented on April 23, 2025 in commemoration of William Shakespeare’s birth anniversary, recognizing her outstanding contributions to English Language Education.
She has been at the forefront of English language teaching for Urdu medium students, bringing innovation and empathy into the classroom. Her efforts have significantly enhanced language learning experiences for students who often face linguistic and academic barriers in higher education.
An accomplished academic with a PhD in English, she has authored numerous research papers published in UGC CARE-listed journals and has successfully completed a minor research project, demonstrating her commitment to research-led teaching and scholarship.
Her contributions extend to curriculum development, including the creation of Self-Learning Materials (SLMs) for M.A. English and Communicative English courses under MANUU’s distance education programs—supporting learners from diverse backgrounds. In addition, she has actively engaged in teacher development programmes, delivering lectures and conducting workshops for school teachers across various forums.
Reflecting on the award, she said, “Teaching English at an Urdu University is not just about teaching a language rather it’s about bridging cultures, creating understanding, and opening doors to new possibilities. I am humbled to be recognized for this work.”
Her work exemplifies excellence in education, and her recognition as an Inspiring Teacher of English underscores her continued dedication to inclusive, high-quality teaching and academic development.
