Subject: Landslide Incident, Weather Advisory, and Power Disruption in District Kargil
Date: 20th April 2025Due to heavy snowfall in District Kargil, landslides and incidents of rockfall have been reported in various areas. Several residential houses have sustained damage due to falling rocks. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.The District Administration, LAHDC Kargil, advises the general public to avoid movement in and around landslide-prone areas to ensure safety. All necessary precautionary measures are being taken by the administration to monitor and address the situation.In addition, the town of Drass has been experiencing an electricity shutdown since last night due to the ongoing weather conditions. Restoration work is underway, and the concerned departments are making all efforts to resume power supply at the earliest.In view of the prevailing weather conditions and as a precautionary measure, the District Administration has ordered the closure of all schools in District Kargil from 21st to 23rd April 2025.The public is requested to stay updated through official channels and cooperate with the administration in ensuring public safety.
