*Malda Division Achieves Best Ever Freight Loading, Surpassing Annual Target Ahead of Schedule*


Eastern Railway’s Malda Division has achieved its best-ever freight loading by surpassing last year’s record and exceeding the annual target for the financial year 2024-25 well ahead of schedule,achieving its best-ever freight loading. *Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Malda, Shri Manish Kumar Gupta,* the division has successfully loaded *16.62 million tonnes (MT) of freight as of March 25, 2025,*surpassing the annual freight loading target of 16.61 MT – *six days* before the financial year ends. This achievement also exceeds last year’s freight loading mark of *14.985 MT,* underscoring the division’s operational excellence and commitment to service efficiency.*Since the formation of Malda Division, this is its highest-ever freight loading.*

This remarkable accomplishment highlights Malda Division’s robust logistics management, strategic planning, and customer-centric approach. The continuous growth in freight loading reflects the division’s unwavering commitment to strengthening railway infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency and fostering industrial partnerships.

Stone remains the primary contributor to the freight loading, with *7.65 MT of stone* transported during the year, reinforcing Malda Division’s critical role in facilitating the movement of essential commodities. Additionally, the division handles a diverse range of freight, including coal, cement, food grains, and general goods, catering to the growing needs of industries and businesses across the region.

Along with freight loading, Malda Division has achieved an impressive milestone in goods revenue generation. *For the financial year 2024-25, the division’s goods revenue has reached Rs. 1086.94 crores,* marking a *26.39%* increase compared to last year’s earnings of *Rs. 859.93 crores* in 2023-24. This remarkable revenue growth underscores the division’s dedication to boosting freight operations and optimizing railway earnings.
