Hyderabad, March 12, 2025 – Mir Qurram Ali, the BRSV GHMC Coordinator of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi Student Wing (BRSV), has made a series of strong demands to the government to address the growing concerns within the education sector. The leader highlighted critical issues ranging from funding to student welfare, urging immediate action to bolster the education system in the state.
In a press statement today, Qurram Ali outlined five key demands that he believes are essential for the betterment of students and the overall educational landscape:
1. 15% of the Budget for Education
Mir Qurram Ali called on the government to allocate a minimum of 15% of the annual budget to the education sector. He emphasized that adequate funding is vital for improving infrastructure, teacher training, and the overall quality of education. “The future of our youth depends on the strength of our education system. It is crucial that we invest in our children’s future by prioritizing education funding,” he asserted.
2. Immediate Appointment of Education Minister
Ali demanded the appointment of a dedicated Education Minister without delay. He argued that the absence of a leader solely responsible for overseeing education policies and reforms has led to significant gaps in the sector. “A dedicated minister will bring the necessary focus and urgency to the issues that have been ignored for far too long,” he said.
3. Ex-Gratia for Students Who Died in Gurukula Schools
One of the most emotional appeals made by Ali was for an ex-gratia of ₹50 lakhs for the families of students who tragically lost their lives in Gurukula schools. “It is heartbreaking that students, who are the future of our state, have lost their lives under tragic circumstances. Their families deserve financial support and recognition for their loss,” Ali stressed.
4. Clearance of Pending Fee Reimbursements and Scholarships
Ali also demanded that the government immediately clear the pending fee reimbursements and scholarships owed to students. “Thousands of students are waiting for their fee reimbursements and scholarships. These delays are not just an inconvenience—they are causing unnecessary distress among the students and their families,” he said.
5. Education Barosa Cards for Youth Development
As part of the Youth Development scheme, Ali suggested that the government provide ₹5 lakh Education Barosa Cards to students, ensuring better access to educational resources. The Education Barosa Cards would allow students to avail themselves of financial aid for tuition fees, books, and other educational materials, enabling them to pursue higher studies without financial barriers.
Leadership Support
Ali's demands have garnered support from key leaders within the BRS Party. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the party's working president, and Dr. Errolla Srinivas, a senior leader, echoed Ali’s concerns and underlined the importance of focusing on education as a fundamental pillar for the state's progress. They both emphasized that a robust education system is central to achieving Telangana’s long-term goals of development and prosperity.
“We stand with Advocate Mir Qurram Ali in his demands for better funding, leadership, and welfare measures for students. The government must act now to prevent any further delays in addressing these urgent issues,” said KTR in a statement.
Call for Action
The BRSV GHMC Coordinator concluded by calling for immediate action from the government to address the pressing needs of the education sector. He expressed confidence that the government would heed the demands and prioritize the education of the youth, which he described as the backbone of the state’s future.
As the demands gain traction, the government’s response to this call for urgent reforms in education will be closely monitored by both the public and political observers alike.
