A Kolkata Police personnel was reportedly found on duty in an intoxicated state.

The officer identified as Arun Kumar Das, was on duty at the medical college outpost on Saturday night when some family members of patients noticed him rolling on the ground. They alleged that he reeked of alcohol and was visibly drunk while on duty at the medical college outpost. Upon receiving the information, other police personnel at the outpost took him away. However, no official statement has been released by Lalbazar (Kolkata Police headquarters) regarding the incident. The officer was on duty at the emergency department. The incident has raised concerns once again about the safety of doctors and patients in hospitals. This comes in the wake of a previous incident where a civic volunteer involved in the RG Kar rape and murder case was sentenced to life imprisonment. The incident has reignited questions about the security and protection of doctors and patients.
