Global Observations and Significance

Muslims in various parts of the world, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and other Gulf nations, typically follow Saudi Arabia’s moon sighting reports. Other countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and parts of Africa and Europe, will conduct their own moon sightings and announce the start of Ramadan accordingly.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered the holiest. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs while focusing on prayer, charity, and self-discipline. The fast is broken each evening with Iftar, a meal often shared with family and community.

Preparations and Celebrations

Muslims worldwide are preparing for a spiritually significant month, with many setting intentions to read the Quran, engage in acts of charity, and increase their prayers during this sacred time.

The sighting of the moon in other countries is expected later tonight or tomorrow, which will determine when Ramadan officially begins in different regions.
