Mirwaiz Umar Farooq strongly denounces the National Conference leader’s reckless and disgraceful statement advising alcohol sales for revenue generation, branding it an outright attack on the religious, moral, and cultural fabric of Kashmir. Prioritizing financial gain over fundamental Islamic values is not just irresponsible—it is intolerable.
Islam categorically forbids alcohol, labeling it “أمُ الخبائث” (the mother of all evils), and advocating for it in a Muslim-majority Kashmir is an unforgivable betrayal. If Gujarat, Bihar, and other states can enforce strict prohibition, why should Kashmir be subjected to such moral and social corruption? Alcohol is a poison that erodes individual character, shatters families, and fuels crime, addiction, and societal decay.
This government must stop acting as an agent of destruction and impose an immediate, absolute, and irreversible ban on alcohol—no half-measures, no excuses. If those in power cannot serve the people of Kashmir, they should at least have the decency to refrain from poisoning their future.
