Stampede at Pushpa 2 Premiere: Victim’s Husband Withdraws Complaint Against Allu Arjun
*New Delhi*: Bhaskar, the husband of Revathi, who tragically lost her life in a stampede during the premiere of *Pushpa 2* at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, has clarified that he does not hold actor Allu Arjun responsible for the incident. The devastating stampede occurred on December 4, leaving Revathi dead and critically injuring her 13-year-old son, Shreethej.
In a statement on Friday, Bhaskar expressed his stance: "We only visited Sandhya Theatre because my son was eager to watch the movie. Allu Arjun is not to blame for being at the theatre that day. I am ready to withdraw my complaint. I wasn’t even informed about his arrest; I learned about it from the news while at the hospital. He has no connection to the stampede."
Despite Bhaskar’s statement, Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the case, and a local court remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. However, the Telangana High Court granted the actor interim bail for four weeks.
The stampede has drawn widespread criticism of Sandhya Theatre’s crowd management, with authorities arresting the theatre owner and two staff members for alleged negligence. The overwhelming crowd, eager to see the actor, reportedly escalated the situation due to inadequate security arrangements.
Allu Arjun expressed his profound sorrow over the incident, describing it as "heartbreaking" and a dark shadow over the success of his film. The actor has since pledged Rs 25 lakh in financial support to Revathi’s family and committed to covering the medical expenses for Shreethej.
The tragic incident has sparked calls for better safety measures and stricter regulations at public events to prevent such occurrences in the future.
