NATIONAL PRESS DAY 2024 CELEBRATED AT PABITORAHAT IN MORIGAON DISTRICT

A thoughtful exploration of the Media Environment* National Press Day 2024 was Celebrated with great enthusiasm at Pabitorahat on 16/11/2024 at the initiative of Morigaon District Administration and in collaboration with Morigaon District Journalists Association. Organised by the District Administration and the Morigaon District Journalists' Association, the event brought together journalists, intellectuals, and dignitaries to discuss the complex role of the media in the Society and discussed its evolutionary nature under the theme of today's event titled "Changing Forms of Media"*. The programme began with a lamp lighting ceremony in Pabitorahat as a symbol of knowledge and honesty that journalism has brought to the Society. The highlight of the day was an open meeting looking for the theme "Changing Forms of Media". The meeting was formally inaugurated by Additional District Commissioner of the district Dr Sangita Borthakur, discussing the rapid evolution of the media from traditional platforms to the digital landscape, delivered a detailed speech on the subject. In his keynote address. Senior journalist Bubumoni Goswami gave an in-depth analysis of the historical transformation of the media. Highlighting how journalism has adapted to social and technological changes, he called upon journalists to embrace innovation while maintaining their commitment to truth and public service. Later, The District Superintendent of Police Hemanta Kumar Das spoke about the role of the media in building cooperation between law enforcement and the people and stressed on social harmony and its impact. Inspector Of Schools Apurba Thakuria also deliberated on the relationship between the media and education and highlighted the impact of the media in shaping public opinion and community development.Pratap Hazarika, former president of the Morigaon District Journalists' Association, shared his experiences and insights into the responsibilities of journalists in the current era. Today's event also recognised the contributions of eminent journalists who had made a great impact in their field: Morigaon journalist Lakshyajyoti Nath and Mayang journalist Nazrul Islam were honoured for their dedication and service.
In recognition of their invaluable contribution to journalism, they were felicitated with Jaapi, Gamosa and Certificates of appreciation. Birinchi Kumar Sharma, president of Morigaon District Journalists' Association, made his remarks at the conclusion of the meeting. Today's event was attended by journalists from different parts of the district as well as several eminent persons.
