On the day of the bypoll, TMC leader Ashok Sahu, a former ward president, was shot multiple times by unidentified assailants while at a tea stall in Bhatpara this morning.

Reports indicate that bombs were also thrown at the location. He has suffered four gunshot wounds and is currently hospitalized for treatment. The Election Commission has requested a report on the incident. #Bhatpara
