Experts said that the Vande Metro Train is inspired by and designed on the lines of the Vande Bharat train.

The trial run was carried out under the supervision of a team of Railway’s Research Design and Standard Organisation (RSDO). Sources said that officials of RSDO evaluated factors such as vibration and shock during the trial run.The train is equipped with 12 coaches consisting of 1,150 ergonomically designed seats.

The train has been made with state-of-the-art technologies such as fully air-conditioned coaches, CCTV surveillance, talk back system, passenger information display board etc, said sources in Western Railway. Sources said the specialty of this train is the ability to accelerate and decelerate quickly, making travel between mid-distance cities faster.

The train has a maximum speed of 130 km/h, which is faster than mainstream electric multiple unit (MEMU) trains.

This new intercity metro rail service is primarily for intercity routes of length between 250 and 350 km; its average travel time will be between 3 and 5 hours.
