Canada to Pause Immigration, Population Decline Expected

Canada’s population, which reached 41 million in April 2024, is set to experience a temporary decline due to a new immigration plan. The government’s 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan will reduce immigration targets, causing a 0.2% population decline in 2025 and 2026. Growth is expected to resume at 0.8% by 2027, according to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
