Sakhi Maidan Residents Protest Against Road Construction Negligence : Altaf Hussain

Mendhar, J&K October 21, 2024 – Residents of Panchayat Sakhi Maidan staged a protest today, accusing the PMGSY and the contractor of negligence in the blacktopping of the Sakhi Maidan-Tehra Topa road. Locals claimed that the contractor failed to clear dust before laying the blacktop, jeopardizing the road’s quality and longevity.

Tehsildar Mendhar, Rahul Basotra, visited the site and instructed the contractor to remove the blacktop, clean the dust, and redo the work. Protestors also expressed concerns over the 20 mm blacktopping, stating it was insufficient for future road durability.

Residents congratulated the newly elected government, urging immediate intervention to ensure the road meets proper standards. They emphasized that rural infrastructure must be prioritized, as poor roads continue to cause significant hardship for the community. The protestors vowed to continue pressing for action until their demands are met.
