Sourabh Chandrakar, the owner of the Mahadev betting app, was recently arrested in Dubai after authorities issued a Red Corner Notice against him This move is part of a larger effort by Indian authorities to crack down on illegal online betting and gambling. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been investigating Chandrakar and his associates for their alleged involvement in money laundering and illegal betting activities

Chandrakar's rise to prominence is quite interesting. He started out running a juice shop in Chhattisgarh with his brother but later moved to Dubai, where he launched the Mahadev online betting app The app allowed users to bet on live games like poker and cricket, and it's estimated that the platform generated around ₹6,000 crore in illegal funds

The ED has claimed that Chandrakar and his associates used inactive or semi-active bank accounts to evade authorities and launder money . They also allegedly shared bribes with politicians and bureaucrats in Chhattisgarh . The agency has arrested 11 people in connection with the case and seized cash and properties worth ₹417 crore .
