Distribution of Pure Drinking Water Among the Devotees at Sri Sri Aathkhelia Namghar, Assam By the Department of History, Borholla College.

JORHAT: Sri Sri Aathkhelia Namghar located at Golaghat District in Assam is a holy place and devotees from all around the state visit this place throughout the year. It is a special tradition that people from different parts of the state visit this place during the month oh Bhadra in large numbers. This year is also not different from it. The Department of History of Borholla College, Jorhat, Assam maintaining the legacy of their social responsibility activities distributed pure drinking water among the devotees on this day of 10th September, 2024. It has been a common practice for the department for last five years. Today's program has started with a brief inaugural session moderated by Mr. Dilip Kumar Khound, the Administrative Vice Principal of the institution. Members from the Steering Committee of "Namghar Parichalana Xamiti" were invited to the inaugural function. At the very outset, Mrs. Moyuri Bora, the Head of the Department, Department of History greeted Mr. Tankeswar Saikia, the President of the Steering Committee with a traditional scarf. Senior Assistant Professor Mrs. Puspa Dhandia offered the first glass of pure drinking water prepared by the students to Mr. Chandra Pathak, the Secretary of the Steering Committee. They are of the opinion that such type of activities by the students of department of the institution will develop the ideology of social responsibility among the students. Mr. Tankeswar Saikia opined that such type of activities would surely develop the spiritual and moral values among the new generation. The Alumni Association of the department participated actively in the whole program. Their active participation encouraged the existing students a lot. Sri Pranjal Protim Borah, Sri Suresh Saikia and Sri Bikash Gogoi from the association put forward their views that they are always with the Department of History and will always be with their Alma Mater in the future. They also said they would be lucky enough if they would get the opportunity to participate in such type of philanthropic activities with their juniors and assured more active participation in the future. The department served more than three thousand devotees coming from different parts of the state with self prepared lemon juice and pure drinking water. Miss Nitushree Gogoi another faculty member from the department who happens to be the Alumni also actively led the students in the entire program. Mrs. Moyuri Bora, the Head of the Department expresses her view that it is their fifth year consecutive activity in this holy place and they feel peace and tranquility in this activity. They have more future plans inclined to social responsibility and expects that the Almighty will give more strength to them including the students for such type of endeavors.
