DRDO Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) in Leh,

Amazing experience visiting DRDO Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) in Leh, led by dynamic director, Dr OP Chaurasia, which does research on fruits and vegetables, agro forestry and medicinal plants, and animals for Ladakh region. Established in 1962 during peak of war, by a special order of the Prime Minister Nehru, who was on a visit to this region, to do R&D for producing food for troops deployed in the region, DIHAR has since made the region almost self sufficient, across fruits and vegetables, by focussed research and partnering with farmers. Later visited military museum, The Hall of Fame, depicting Indian Army’s valour and victories in various wars since 1948.
