In a remarkable achievement, three young talents from Dharwad district have clinched admission to the prestigious Delhi Sports University (School) in the wrestling category. This rare feat has brought immense pride to the region.

“Getting selected for Delhi Sports University (School) is no small feat. Very few students from Karnataka make it through in various streams. Among these, three outstanding students from Dharwad have made the cut, which is a matter of immense pride for our district,” said coach Ashok Chillannavar.

The distinguished trio includes ninth-grade student Saroja Chillannavar from Unkal, seventh-grade student Rahul Chavan from Dharwad, and Gangotri Chavhan, also from Dharwad. These budding wrestlers have been honing their skills at the Vayuputra Sports Foundation in Unkal, where they received top-notch coaching.

Coach Ashok Chillannavar highlighted that students studying at Delhi Sports University will receive rigorous training aimed at preparing them for the Olympics. This achievement not only marks a significant milestone for the students but also puts Dharwad on the map as a nurturing ground for future Olympians.
