Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Service Ends on July 31, 2024

Canon has announced that the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens will no longer be serviced after July 31, 2024. Known for its versatility and reliability, this decision marks the end of an era for many photographers. However, Canon is advising users to explore upgrading to newer models, with their sales team ready to assist in finding suitable deals.

Alternatively, third-party repair shops may still offer support by sourcing parts from the used market. The EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM II remains a valuable asset despite the service discontinuation for its predecessor.

This move is part of Canon's broader phasing out process, with the EOS M3 and EOS M10 cameras also ending service this year. Several other lenses are scheduled to follow in 2025, such as the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II and EF 100mm f/2 USM. Only one EF-M lens will be serviced beyond 2030.

Film fans should note that the EOS-1V and EOS-1V HS cameras will cease service in October 2025. As Canon progresses with technology, the retirement of these models is a natural step, though their legacy will persist among photographers.
