Cow vigilantes stop two trucks carrying 27 cows in Ferozepur, 3 booked for cattle smuggling
Ferozepur, May 11, 2024: Gau Raksha Dal, Zira President Kuldeep Sharma and cow protection members flagged down two trucks carrying 27 cows being transported for slaughter purposes, near Gadriwala village with the arrest of three persons, while two managed to escape.

Divulging with details, Kuldeep Sharma said, we received a tip-off that in two trucks cattle would be smuggled from Majitha via Zira to Dabwali and working on this information, the trucks were signalled to stop which the driver was driving recklessly and at high speed. On searching, 27 cows, including one dead, were found and the accused were identified as Karanjit Singh of Gurdaspur, Manpreet Singh of Amritsar Kaka Masih of Dera Baba Nanak and 2 unidentified persons.
The police have booked these persons under Section 295-A, 425, 120B of IPC and 11 The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and 8, The Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act 1955.
Kuldeep thanked his entire team members Pawan Kumar Lali, Anil Mehta, Rinku Deva ji, Prem Grover, Abhi Sethi, Ridham Sethi and others who are always ready day and night for such welfare works.
Appealing to the Chief Minister, Bhagwan Mann, Kuldeep said, the government should crack down on such cow smugglers with rare punishments so that others may not dare to do so besides asking for financial assistance to feed the cows and cowsheds to take care of their food and health.
